Welcome to Peoa!
Peoa

From 1824 to 1825, William Ashley, Jedediah Smith, Jim Bridger and Kit Carson stopped at the numerous springs found here. It was named Peoah, in 1857, after the word was found carved into an old log. At one time there was a hotel, store and blacksmith shop. Besides cattle and dairy, farmers grew lettuce and peas to sell to the miners from Park City. Our community is still home to agriculture and the basic rural lifestyle values. Visit our city park to enjoy a wonderful outing, read our memorial plaques and see the refuge bell that sat atop the town school for 60 years.
