n 1859, Thomas Rhoades settled at a spring, followed by Samuel P. Hoyt in 1861 at the base of Hoyt's Canyon. Before the town was named Marion, it was first known as Morrell, Denmark, and then Lemonville. In the 1940's, there was a cooperative pea vinery here. A cooperative farm store remains as the center of agricultural and community activities in the south end of Summit County. Marion is it still home to agricultural business and a growing residential community.
